Cultural appropriation is a good description. I’m a huge fan of Pete Enns, and he argues that the NT authors model creative reinterpretation of the OT to explicate Jesus. I’m on board with TBP following that model, but I wish they’d more explicitly say they’re interpreting the OT as Christians, not Jews. Hence, cultural appropriation. Good insight!
