From what I can tell, this is the basic parameter and impetus of the "many worlds hypothesis."

… if we increase the number of universes, we can reduce the probability one of them will allow life. If our universe is part of a multiverse, it’s more plausible we just happen to be in one of the few that have the conditions necessary for life.
