Based on our experience with medical bills, only strict price controls (e.g., Medicare for All) will save us from ridiculous medical expenses. My wife used to be on a medicine that cost $5000 if billed one way and $50 if billed another. Medicare/Medicaid would say, "Yeah, that should cost $50, so we'll let you charge $50."
