Ironically, declaring LGBTQ orientations innately sinful puts up a wall between those people and new life. If Jesus never spoke against same-sex attraction but spoke against divorce 4 times, then why insist on prioritizing a few verses from Paul and Leviticus over what Jesus says and doesn’t say? Why not regard gay couples similarly to divorced or remarried people? And, sincere question, what do we do with Paul explicitly telling slaves to obey their masters if we’re supposed to stringently apply Paul and Leviticus to LGBTQ identities? In my experience, people are eager to talk about context and language when it comes to verses espousing slavery but shut that talk down for some reason when it cones to verses about LGBTQ, even though there’s immense ambiguity in those verses due to their translation and context.
