It's obvious that I can't say anything to undo the hurt you've experienced at the hands of Christians, Christianity, or both. But I will say that I agree with your sentiments about the "classic" or "traditional" view of God as all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-loving. Open and Relational Theology presents a very different view of God, a view that actually has more support in the Bible, not to mention our lived experience, than the classic view. The Bible is one source of ideas about God, but I don't believe it's the only source or that it's infallible. "Inspired" doesn't mean that God put people into trances to transcribe. I think all of the Bible is inspired, but I don't think everything is equally inspired. I think, for example, that the Israelites were inspired to write their history in a way that promoted worshipping Yahweh alone, but I think the specifics of that history fall into the same "angry God caused a plague because we don't understand germs" type of literature as the rest of the ancient world. I would suggest that none of this is "cherry-picking" but rather trying to make sense of what's before us. At the end of the day, we're all just trying our best to make sense of things.
