One of my essay’s main points seems to be getting missed … there is a systematic, organized, and institutionalized attack on our democracy already well under way: laws aimed at suppressing votes from traditionally Democratic-leaning voters, alarm among conservative media and politicians at non-existent voter fraud, exploration of legal mechanisms for overturning or invalidating election results. Any riots or violence that might occur (my essay argues) will be a by-product of the legal efforts to undermine the next election.
