Really great thoughts, Judith. I agree 100% with your analysis of how people make the Bible into an idol. We can, and should, prioritize the Holy Spirit with all the complexity, messiness, and mistakes that come along with trying to discern it. I mean, the earliest Christians didn't have a New Testament! Abraham and Moses didn't have scripture. And as you point out, Jesus "threw out" some of his scriptures (e.g., The Sermon on the Mount) to say, "Here's a better way." There are other sources of truth.
