Thanks for all your responses to this piece! I really appreciate engaged readers who provide food-for-thought. I am affirming, so I did mean to put “sin” in quotation marks. I don’t think divorce is a sin either; sometimes, it’s the healthiest, best choice a person/couple can make. It’s just striking to me that Jesus talks about divorce multiple times and never mentions homosexuality, yet many Christians react to news of a divorce with compassion and news of someone coming out with judgment. (Shrugging emoji here, lol)
