This doesn’t track for me. Socrates was literally executed, in part, for being an arrogant jerk at his trial (if “The Apology of Socrates” is to be believed), and much of what Russel says later doesn’t take into account what Jesus most likely meant in his context and language. He never talks about “hell” as we understand it, for instance, but he refers to Gehenna, a literal valley where child sacrifice had occurred and Jews burned garbage.
