Well, I suppose the Cross is meaningful because without death, there wouldn't be a Resurrection. And regardless of the Resurrection, Jesus' willing self-sacrifice is pretty darn compelling as a moral example. I may have phrased it a little provocatively, but as I was thinking about salvation recently, I realized that the Resurrection may be where the actual spiritual/cosmic salvation occurs rather than the Cross. Of course, I have no idea what I'm talking about, because I'm talking about the Divine! :)
