Now we must explain to our children why men guilty of sexual misconduct can get nominated to run the nation’s military and federal law enforcement.

Our 10-year-old son watches the news with his grandfather sometimes. One night, he watched the reporting on Peter Hegseth and the allegations of sexual assault that he settled out of court.

The next night, he watched the reporting on Matt Gaetz and the federal and congressional investigations into his sleeping with sex workers, including a seventeen-year-old.

So, yeah, my wife and I had to figure out how to talk to our 10-year-old about sexual assault and having sex with minors. Trump’s second term is already worse than I imagined it could be.
